North Island Ski Touring Meet

5 to 7 October 2018, based at Tukino Lodge 40 NZAC members from throughout the North Island attended the ski touring meet at Tukino in early October. Alongside the meet an avalanche course was held. Wellington was well represented with 4 carloads heading north. Saturday was a cracker day - mainly sunny and calm. Many a kilometer was toured with happy faces at day end. Litres of water downed before moving on to celebratory drinks. Above and below, photos Barnaby Arnott Above and below, photos Bernd Pummer Greg and Kate made the best effort when it came to fancy dress among the section. The Auckland Red Hot Chilli Peppers certainly stood out. Sunday delivered rain showers and wind. A few hardy souls stayed out to mid afternoon, while most of us were back early for a cuppa and warm up. Thanks to Mac for organising a great meet. Also to our Jenny and Eric for contributing to the organisation. Words Keith Munro Powered by volunteers We’re always thankful for volunteers and members stepping forward to help the section run smoothly. A lot goes on to keep our club going, virtually all powered by volunteers. On the back page is our “Club on a page” summary. It gives an at a glance description of all the things we do, how and why. Feel free to print a copy and pass it on to anyone who might be interested in becoming a member or volunteer. And if you’d like to learn more about how you could get involved, please email us at wellington@alpineclub.org.nz. Role Name
